The restaurant in Milan is the product of the encounter between the owners of the gourmet sign “Il luogo di Aimo e Nadia” and the doyenne of design Rossana Orlandi
The events in Milan, and elsewhere, are often contexts in which the most successful and virtuous collaborations can arise between sectors that are only apparently unrelated. Creativity is the basis for the encounter between Stefania Moroni, Alessandro Negrini and Fabio Pisani, owners of “Luogo di Aimo e Nadia”, a leader in Italian gourmet cuisine for over fifty years, and Rossana Orlandi, owner of one of the most influential design galleries. The synergy between them gave rise to “Aimo e Nadia bistRo”, also located in Milan in the area of Sant’Ambrogio. Here the art of cuisine interacts with the quality of design and the interior design project, curated by Orlandi in collaboration with “Etro Home“, the maison in Milan founded in 1968 as a textile manufacturer, which has now become a full-fledged fashion company that is also active in the field of interior decoration.
A space that is intimate and colourful, cozy and uncommon
The raw materials selected for their quality, the respect for the producers and the territory, are the underlying characteristics of a proposal that takes into account different customer needs, depending on the time of day, and personal needs. The bistrot features a kitchen and a bar, making it perfect for a rich breakfast or a quick coffee, as well as a convivial lunch, a business lunch or a quick snack, even a mid-afternoon break, cocktails, dinner.
Taking up the legacy of the masters Aimo and Nadia, under the direction of Stefania Moroni, chefs Fabio Pisani, originally from Apulia with experiences in London and Paris, and Alessandro Negrini, originally from Valtellina who worked in Saint Moritz, Punta Ala and Geneva before coming to Milan, propose dishes with contemporary combinations based on regional products, and incursions into the traditions of their places of birth. And so, to quote just a few of their proposals, at “Aimo e Nadia bistRo” you can taste the Lentil soup with jowl bacon and pepper, Grouper with thyme-flavoured potatoes and chicory, Risotto with capers, lemon and beetroot. And to end the meal? For example, Caramelized apple with lemon cream and buckwheat cookie. And there are many more delicious options on the pages of the menu.
The space is reminiscent of the style of the adjacent Galleria di Rossana Orlandi, for over twenty years a consultant for fashion designers such as Giorgio Armani, and now a curator of exhibitions and collector of design objects, with a good eye for scouting young designers on their way to becoming future creative talents. The furniture of the bistrot comes from the Galleria’s own collection, vintage objects that are matched with newly manufactured pieces by renowned or rising designers. Tapestries and wall paper have been custom-designed by Etro for “Aimo and Nadia bistRo”.
